The Long-Term Care Solution
Long-term services and supports are often ignored, despite their central role in America’s health care crisis. The needs are great. The costs are high. Insurance coverage is nearly non-existent.
The structure of our current system makes caring for seniors and disabled adults fragmented, expensive and difficult. Every segment of our population is affected: individuals, families, employers, government programs, the medical profession and the economy. It is simply unaffordable to care.
On this site, you’ll learn about the Long-term Care Solution, an initiative from the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). AAHSA is advocating for a broad-based national insurance trust with premiums that provide cash benefits to pay for long-term care expenses. This system would allow baby boomers to pre-fund their long-term care needs, alleviate state budget burdens, and most important, provide individuals with the services they need, in a place they call home.
The time for waiting is over. We must make it affordable to care.
